Just in: APC suspends Oshiomhole in Edo state as he gets vote of no confidence

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state suspends the party's national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole

The APC says the suspension of Oshiomhole is because of his roles in the crisis suffered by the party in the state.
- The party stresses that it does not want a repeat of the Zamfara crisis that caused the loss of APC in the 2019 election.
The national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has been reportedly suspended by the party at his home state, Edo, The Nation has claimed.
Oshiomhole was said to have received a vote of no confidence from the party following the alleged roles he was said to have played in the crisis rocking the APC in Edo.
The no confidence voted was passed by the chairmen of the APC in the 18 local government areas of the state.
A statement by Anselm Ojezua, the party's chairman in Edo, and Ikuenobe Anthony, the assistant state secretary, confirmed the action against Oshiomhole.
“Consequent on the development, the state executive committee has adopted the vote of no confidence passed on him and the subsisting suspension order from the organs of the party in the state," a statement by the duo said.
According to Ojezua ad Anthony, the suspension of Oshiomhole was to avoid a repeat of the incident that happened in Zamfara ahead of the 2019 elections which made the APC not able to field candidates.
“Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is the one behind the crisis in Edo APC. We have passed a vote of no confidence on him and he stands suspended from the party.
“We don’t want what happened in Zamfara State or other parts of the country to happen in Edo state," the party said.
