L-R: Edo State Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu; Edo State Solicitor General, Oluwole Iyamu; Executive Chairperson, Edo Development Property Agency (EDPA), Ms Isoken Omo; Director, Iron Projects Limited, Mr. Jubril Enakele, during the signing of an agreement between the EDPA and IPL on the delivery of a luxury housing project in Benin City, at Government House in Benin City.

The Edo State Government has sealed a deal with Iron Projects Limited (IPL), for the development of high-end apartments in Benin City, in a renewed effort to deliver luxury housing in the state.
Speaking during the signing of an agreement between the Edo Development and Property Agency (EDPA) and IPL on the project, at Government House in Benin City, Edo State Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, said the housing sector remains a very critical sector to the Governor Obaseki-led administration.
Shaibu said: “We are happy to partner with Iron Capital Partners, the parent company of Iron Capital Limited, like we did with Mixta Africa. This is a way of helping us actualise our dream of delivering a mix of housing options to the people. This particular project will provide decent accommodation, especially for businessmen operating in Edo State.
“In another 12 months, we will be handing over more keys to a new set of house owners. This is in line with the developmental strides of the governor. Beyond providing housing, we are also creating opportunities and employment because we are very clear about creating jobs, as that is the only way to keep Edo State secure.”
He said the new deal is in line with the state’s vision to create new cities and urban areas, noting, “We are doing everything within our reach with legislations and other instruments to create a conducive environment for development of more housing options for low, medium and high income earners.”

On his part, Director, Iron Projects Limited, Mr. Jubril Enakele, said, “What we have conceived is to build a New York standard accommodation in Benin City. This is because there is the confidence across the Southern region that Edo State is open for business. So, even if you are in New York and you want to come to invest or live in Benin, you don’t need to cut your expectations and lifestyle because you are coming to Benin.”
Enakele added, “We will start small and then build from there. We will have a fully serviced gymnasium and swimming pool. There will be 24-hour supply of electricity. We are already making arrangement for internet services, so you can work from the same location. It is going to be the first of its kind in Edo.”
He added that Iron Project Limited will raise funding for the project which is expected to be delivered within a year.
Executive Chairperson, Edo Development and Property Agency (EDPA), Ms Isoken Omo, said aside providing affordable housing projects, the state government is also interested in luxury apartments.
She noted, “Part of the things the Governor Obaseki-led government has done is to make housing, private sector-focused and the objective is to attract the kind of investment that will make Edo State a place of choice for people to work and live. The first of such projects is the one we are working on along Central Road. It is going to be a lifestyle development, not like anything we have now. I don’t think they even have it in Delta or other neighbouring states. It is going to provide a lifestyle where you can live, work and play.”
