Okomu Splashes N15 Million On Workers



BENIN –CITY- Workers in the country have been urged to be always dedicated and hard working to duties as Okomu Oil Palm Plc splashes over N15 million on workers, for dedication, loyalty and commitment to service.
Speaking at a long service award ceremony at the company’s plantation at the weekend with over 40 workers benefiting, the Managing Director of the Company, Dr. Graham Hefer described workers as the corner stone of industries in the country, particularly in the oil palm sector where commitment by workers has led to robust growth and creating success for children yet unborn.
His words:“ the workers have been loyal and dedicated to the company, they have also been the foundation stone of the company. The more people like you we have, the better since they will move the company forward’, he said.
Dr.Hefer also urged them to look forward for more responsibilities, adding that such high demand is inevitable to make the company a success for the coming generations to reap from the commitment being made and to ensure that the company is in safe hands.
Besides, he further charged them to be beacons of light for others to emulate, saying, “ you should show other people what to do, how to do it and the way to do it.’’




In his remarks at the occasion, the Agriculture Coordinator, Mr. Billy Ganza commended the workers for being dedicated and for contributing to the growth and development of the company.
He however, urged them to be good Ambassadors, particularly as other workers now look up to them for direction, stressing that continued hard work will earn them more benefits.
Also speaking, Communications officer, Socfin Group, Brussels, Caroline Snock who was at the occasion lauded the workers for their commitment, saying it is a day for which they deserved to be honoured.
She however described Nigeria as a great and dynamic country whose people are very hospitable and are great fun to be with.
In their responses, the Union Chairman, Mr.kennedyOyesome and a beneficiary, Mrs.MercyIkediashi who responded on behalf of others gave thanks to God for taking them thus far and promised that they will continue to put in their best for the company.
The beneficiaries who had spent from 10, 15 and 25 years went home with complete set of furniture, beddings and its accompanying furniture, wardrobes, deep freezers and plasma television and dinning sets. They also went home with cheques of unspecified amount.
