IPOB Sit At Home Order: Schools, Shops Shut Down In Asaba

ASABA – The order to sit at home by IPOB was Observered in some parts of Asaba, Delta State as Business and academic activities were paralyzed.
The Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) had threatened massive protest and sit at home on May 30th 2019, in the South East and South South region. The threats, security agencies described as mere, and urged residents/ indigenes of the zones to go about their businesses.
But in Asaba, and its environs, business and academic activities were paralyzed as virtually all the streets are desolate even as the popular commercial buses plying Asaba- Onitsha roads were few.
At Okwe, Akwaebulu, Cable Point, Bonsac areas of Asaba, it was Observered that shops were lucked up as students were earlier asked not to come to school for fear of unknown.
At the pupolar Ogbeogonogo market, it was the same story as the market which used to be beehive of commercial activities, was in shadow of itself for fear of the unknown, while few traders who did not heed to the sit at home order, were seen discussing in a group.

The Police Public Relations officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovuwakpoyeya while reacting said the Police are committed to protecting lives and property in the state, adding that the police are already on the streets.
According to him, “The Police will deal decisively with any trouble maker in the state, the Police will protect the lives and properties of the people in the state, the Police is not perturbed about the IPOB threats, people should out for their business, my children have gone to school in my area.”
One of the traders who spoke to me on the condition of anonymity said ” You know most of us in this area of Asaba are Ibos, we constitute 70% of people here, so we must obey the order. That is the only solution to the problem in the country, it might be long, IPOB would achieve its dreams for its country.
“Many of us in Asaba are Biafra, and today is our day, it’s just a delayed but we must get there”.
