Video: El-Rufai Goes On His Knees, Begs Kogi To Forgive Governor Yahaya Bello

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has gone on his knees begging voters in Kogi State vote for Governor Yahaya Bello.

Governor Bello is seeking a second term in office but appears unpopular in the state particularly with many alleged uncleared outstanding salaries.
El-Rufai went on his knees during a rally held for Bello in Lokoja, saying, "Many people say Yahaya Bello is young and that he has fought many people. For every one that the governor has offended, I am asking all of you to forgive him. He is young. He is supposed to make mistakes. When you are young, you make mistakes. But you are supposed to learn from him. On his behalf, I am kneeling down to beg all of you to forgive Yahaya Bello if he has offended you."

Speaking further, the Kaduna governor stated, "In the past four years, the progress recorded by the APC government under Governor Yahaya Bello is more than what the PDP has tried to do in 13 years.

"He cares about this state, he has brought progress to this state, he has brought young people into government, he has brought women into government. He has brought physical progress; he has cleared salary arrears that he inherited from previous governments.

"You must all come out and support him. I beg you all."

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has said the public apology by El-Rufai confirmed that the APC admitted that Bello did not deserve a second term of office.

In a statement on Thursday night, the party said, "The PDP notes that the Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shuaibu, also knelt before the Kogi people to beg for Yahaya Bello which further shows that it is public knowledge that the governor misused the opportunity given to him to lead the state.

"Unfortunately, the apology is coming too late in the day and cannot be accepted by the people of Kogi state, whose lives, Yahaya Bello had turned into a living hell in the last four years.

"Moreover, Yahaya Bello openly confirmed that he is irredeemable as he stood without any sign of remorse while El-Rufai and the Edo State deputy governor begged the unimpressed scanty crowd.

"Governor El-Rufai and the APC ought to have counselled Yahaya Bello at the time he was busy suppressing, insulting, abusing and making life unbearable for the people of Kogi state as if there will not be a day of reckoning.

"The irreversible fact is that the day of reckoning has come. The people of Kogi state have moved beyond Yahaya Bello and the APC. They are already moving on with the PDP candidate, Engr. Musa Wada, in their determination for a new order in their state and there is no looking back.

"PDP advises Governor El-Rufai to assist Governor Bello in preparing his handover notes as he will surely face a crushing defeat at the polls, come Saturday, November 16."

Obaseki’s Agriprenuer Initiative: 109 farmers to benefit from Edo Govt’s N130.8m investment in poultry production

Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security Programme, Prince Joe Okojie (right), addressing poultry farmers at the sensitisation programme, held in Benin City, on Thursday, October 31, 2019

As part of reforms by Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to boost food sufficiency, the Edo State Government has rolled out plans for over 109 poultry farmers expected to benefit from the government’s N130,800,000 investment in the pilot phase of its poultry production scheme.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security Programme, Prince Joe Okojie, disclosed this at a sensitisation programme to mobilise beneficiaries of the agriprenuer programme.
He said the state’s agriprenuer programme is being implemented with support from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to ensure food security and wealth creation in the state.
Okojie noted that the investment in poultry farming by the Obaseki-led government is part of deliberate policy to meet the protein requirement in the state as well as reduce importation of frozen poultry products.
According to him, “About 109 poultry farmers will be given 1,000 birds each at a production cost of N130,800,000 to raise poultry products for sales during the yuletide season.”
He said, “The benefitting farmers must open bank accounts and would be given a loam at nine percent interest rate, while the birds would be sold directly to off takers.”
The governor’s aide warned that the state government will not allow a situation where some farmers under a previous scheme divert farm inputs given to them.
Okojie urged the farmers to be passionate about the agriprenuer programme to assist the state government achieve the aims for the scheme, adding, that the agriprenuer programme had been going on well.
He said, “So far we have done well and we are still producing. We are currently harvesting rice and it is being sold to a processor in the state.”
The next phase of the agriprenuer programme according to Okojie, is the plan by the state government to invest in piggery farming.”
In his vote of thanks, Edo State Chairman of FADAMA Federated farmers, Mr. Chester Ogieva, commended the state government for the initiative, adding that it will increase employment and income in the poultry sub-sector.
“Many people want to go into agribusiness but do not have the finance to do so. We are happy that the state government is giving us loans to increase our poultry farming,” Ogieva added.

Again, Edo indigene, Osamede wins national essay competition, dedicates triumph to Gov Obaseki

In what has become a habitual winning streak, a medical student at the University of Benin, Ikponmwosa Kingsley Osamede, has emerged winner of a national essay competition organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The award ceremony held at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, where Osamede was presented with the award by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun.
The essay competition is a part of activities for the 25th anniversary of the 2019 Nigeria Economic Summit (NES) tagged Nigeria 2050: Shifting Gears organised to set agenda for Nigeria in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Osamede had in 2017 won the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) essay competition in which over 2,000 Nigerian youths participated.
Judges for the competition comprising representatives from the NUC, declared Osamede overall winner after he satisfied all the judging criteria.
Speaking after winning the award, Osamede said Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, was his major motivation, noting that the governor’s leadership style and the premium placed on mental infrastructure are germane to his quest for knowledge.
Osamede, who describes himself as a mentee of Obaseki, said: “Though a 4th-year medical student at the University of Benin, I never shy away from opportunities that would present the Edos in a positive light and lend my minutest support to your administration in changing the narrative about Edo youths.
“The governor is my mentor in every way. Right from your emergence as Governor of Edo State, I have been in awe of your wisdom and charisma. I have listened to you talk at close quarters when you hosted me last year and I must say that it gave me an overflow of inspiration and motivation.”
“Your love for development, mental capacity, civility and progress of Edo citizens in general, has made me not just a proud and loyal subject of yours but also a mentee that would, for a lifetime, cherish knowing you,” he added.
